Why Young Living Oils are Out of Stock

“Out of stock again!!!” Trust me I’ve been there. It makes me frustrated!!! Then I learned something very cool. It was why the oils were out of stock. I would like to share some thought that will help to explain why when we see Young Living oils out of stock, it is actually a very good thing!  Hold on don’t stop reading now. This really is a good thing!!!

What does out of stock oils really mean?

Young Living Oils has grow at an exponential rate, especially in 2014. (Thanks to us Lemon Droppers) The growth has been so rapid some oils have been out of stock for almost a year.  Valor was one of those oils.  It was only available in the Premium Starter Kit(PSK).  I’ll be honest, this is one oil I really didn’t know how I should use it, but once I did, it became an everyday oil for me.  I LOVE VALOR!!! So imagine my frustration when I couldn’t order it after my bottle from my PSK was empty.  I actually ordered 2 more PSK just to get a couple more bottles. Crazy I know, but its that good. So why was Valor out of stock for so long??? Well the blend includes a oils called Blue Spruce. At some point in 2013 the demand began to outpace the available supply of Young Living’s quality Blue Spruce.  It became impossible for Young Living to produce enough Black Spruce to keep up with the amount needed for the popular blend.  We are talking about a tree that has to grow for years before it can used for oil distillation.

Real plants and trees are were Young Living essential oils come from.  It takes time for them to grow.  Sometimes a LONG time!!!   Some oils can only be harvested at a certain time of year under certain conditions. If the supply from the previous year is all gone before the next years harvest is ready, then you have to wait. I know its a bummer, but its all about getting the greatest quality of essential oils.  They won’t settle for anything else.

When Valor was out of stock, people were begging Gary Young to get the best he could get. He contacted an oil distillery that had the Blue Spruce oil and went to see if it would pass his high standards.  However, Gary refused to use it because it did not have the therapeutic qualities or meet the standards that Young Living members have come to expect. That is amazing to me!! He refused the oil!  Even with an overwhelming demand and numerous oil users wanting their favorite oil back. The seller of the Blue Spruce oil, after not being able to sell to Gary, went on to sell the oil to other essential oil companies, who turned around and sold it to their costumers. An oil that was rejected by Young Living for lack of quality was sold by competitors.  Makes me glad I’m a Young Living users.  Gary could have sold Valor to us with the less quality Blue Spruce in it, but rather then make money he choose to stay true to his Seed to Seal promise of only the BEST essential oils!

But other companies have that oil in stock???

Yes, but have you considered why????

Young Living stands behind their SEED to SEAL promise for all their oils.  They do not out source and buy their oils from anyone who has it available.  They hold themselves to a very high standard that lets face it, a lot of other essential oils don’t.  Yes, they could have made money selling Valor with that low quality Blue Spruce in it. Yes, they would not have had people mad and frustrated calling them daily asking when it would be back in stock. It would have been easier for them to do that but that is not what Young Living is about.  It all comes back to their SEED to SEAL quality commitment.  If you haven’t checked it out here’s the link.

So what are they doing to solve this problem?

They are buying more farms!!!!  For Blue Spruce, the Northern Lights Farm in British Colombia is the answer.  As the company keeps growing Gary knows he will need more farms that will be able to grow the plants and trees needed to keep up with the demand for the oils.  He takes this very seriously.  Growing healthy plants starts with the soil, chemistry and nutritional needs.  If a company doesn’t understand that, they will produce a sub-par plant and thus a sub-par essential oil. Geographic location, soil type, climate, elevation, humidity, temperatures, sunlight, frost free days, rainfall, and so many other elements determine the health and growth of a plant.  He has to considers all of this before he even plants a seed.  For plants that require immediate distillation, it is of the utmost importance to be able to distill on the farm.  This means building new distilleries on the farms as well.  All this takes time. Unfortunately for us that want our oils now it means we must be patient if we want to continue to use AMAZING QUALITY ESSENTIAL OILS!!

Now knowing all of this, you could go to another company and get your oils all the time. Or you can wait with me and stick with using high quality essential oils from Young Living!!!!!
